Oman, India close to signing free trade deal

Oman and India are close to concluding talks on a free trade agreement (FTA) that will allow easier access of goods and services between both the countries.

According to a report in Bloomberg, both the countries have reached a consensus on a number of issues and the deal could be finalized as early as March.

In December last year, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik made his first maiden visit to India to strengthen ties. For India, Oman is the third largest export destination among the GCC countries. The bilateral trade stood at $12.39 billion in 2022-23.
