Mohsin Hani Al Bahrani: Success isn’t a destination but a continuous journey towards excellence

Mohsin Hani Al Bahrani, the visionary CEO at the helm of MHD ACERE, offers a glimpse into his remarkable ride to leadership, highlighting the unique features that distinguish MHD ACERE in the industry.

My journey to CEO of MHD ACERE has been shaped by a commitment to strategic leadership and a rich tapestry of experiences. From guiding middle management teams to orchestrating revenue expansion through diversification of product lines, each position has added depth to my perspective. Establishing ventures like MHD Leasing and the MHD Academy of Technical Science further refined my ability to plan strategically.

Taking the lead in initiatives such as driving acquisitions and nurturing partnerships has played a pivotal role in propelling organisational advancement. My time at AjnaLens and Al Amerat Sports and Cultural Club allowed me to refine negotiation skills and cultivate partnerships, crucial elements for MHD ACERE’s triumphs.

In essence, my trajectory underscores the significance of cultivating robust relationships and maintaining a strategic vision, both indispensable for steering MHD ACERE towards prosperity.
Key attributes that set MHD ACERE apart.

At MHD ACERE, we pride ourselves on our distinctiveness in the industry, rooted in our diversified services and dedication to advancing Oman’s Vision 2040. Under my guidance, we’ve pioneered initiatives such as AutoExpert, delivering top-tier automotive solutions, and expanded into sectors including rental, leasing, construction equipment, renewable energy, and medical equipment through HospiCare. These endeavours are in perfect harmony with Oman’s ambition for a sustainable, multifaceted economy led by the private sector.

Looking ahead, my vision for MHD ACERE is one of continual growth and innovation. We’ll capitalise on our automotive expertise while exploring fresh avenues for expansion. By forging strategic alliances, diversifying our portfolio, and upholding a commitment to excellence, we’re poised to reinforce our position as an industry frontrunner. Moreover, we’re steadfast in our mission to contribute to Oman’s and the wider GCC region’s socio-economic advancement.

Strategies for sustainable growth
As CEO, I employ a multifaceted approach to ensure the success of MHD ACERE. My academic journey through Brunel University London and King’s College London has honed my critical thinking skills, essential for navigating intricate business landscapes. With a profound grasp of Middle Eastern political economy, I’m adept at anticipating regional market dynamics.

Rooted in a legacy of societal stewardship passed down from my grandfather, I’m driven to align business triumphs with national development objectives. For me, contemporary entrepreneurship entails harmonising empathy, authenticity, and conscientiousness amid the rapid march of technology.
Introducing specialised entities like ABB EV Chargers and Weir Trio to Oman underscores our commitment to socioeconomic advancement and sustainable practices. Through our Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicles Division, we spearhead clean energy innovations, fostering both economic progress and environmental stewardship. Our recent collaboration with ABB on high-power EV chargers further underscores our dedication to e-mobility and sustainability. These initiatives not only position MHD ACERE as a frontrunner in effecting positive change but also fortify our footing for sustained success in today’s fiercely competitive market.

Leading through challenges
Navigating the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic demanded resilience and innovation. In response, we undertook the strategic merger of diverse verticals within our operations, streamlining processes to ensure efficiency amid disruption. Simultaneously, we transitioned all customer communications to digital platforms, facilitating seamless engagement and extending our reach.

Recognising the imperative of innovation in tumultuous times, I took the lead in pioneering initiatives such as the introduction of e-commerce operations for Jaguar, Land Rover, and MG Motors. By simplifying the car purchasing journey to just three clicks, we not only met evolving consumer demands but also ensured business continuity. These proactive strategies not only helped us weather the storm but also propelled the company forward, reinforcing our adaptability and resilience in the face of uncertainty.

Nurturing a culture of excellence
I firmly believe that cultivating a culture of excellence hinges on the strength of our human resources. The collective dedication and contributions of our team have been paramount to our successes. Central to our approach is a steadfast commitment to continuously enhance the capabilities and competencies of our employees through a variety of skilling and training initiatives.

Our comprehensive professional development framework encompasses a spectrum of learning opportunities, including on-the-job training and internship programmes, designed to empower our workforce with the requisite skills to thrive in their respective roles. Moreover, our HR department has implemented industry best practices to facilitate the recruitment and career advancement of local talent, aligning with our commitment to national workforce development.

By investing in the growth and development of our employees, we foster a culture of excellence that serves as the bedrock of our organisation’s advancement. This dedication to nurturing talent not only propels individual growth but also drives collective success, positioning MHD ACERE as a beacon of excellence in our industry.

Prioritising sustainability
At MHD ACERE, prioritising sustainability and environmental responsibility is integral to our business practices. Our decision to bring specialised companies like ABB EV Chargers and Weir Trio to Oman was driven by a dual commitment: to contribute to Oman’s socioeconomic development and to lead the private sector in implementing sustainable business practices.

Recognising the urgent need for sustainable energy solutions amid global warming, we established the Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicles Division, pioneering clean energy innovation in Oman. Our recent partnership with ABB for high-power EV chargers underscores our dedication to advancing e-mobility and sustainability locally.

These initiatives align closely with MHD’s vision to drive technological innovation and economic growth while promoting environmental responsibility. By integrating sustainability into our business strategies, we aim to create a positive impact on both society and the environment.

Advice for future leaders
To young entrepreneurs or individuals seeking leadership roles, I would advise embracing a mindset of agility, creativity, and resilience. Seize every opportunity, big or small, and use all available tools to drive growth and overcome obstacles. Remember that the role of a CEO extends beyond administrative duties; strive to be a friend, coach, leader, and motivator to your colleagues. Foster a culture where every employee is valued and encouraged to contribute to the company’s ideation and decision-making processes. By remaining focused on your goals and nurturing a collaborative environment, you can make a meaningful impact in your industries and achieve success in your endeavors.

Motivation and legacy
I’m deeply inspired by my grandfather’s legacy, which instilled in me values of sacrifice, diligence, and perseverance. Success, to me, isn’t a destination but a continuous journey toward excellence. We strive to add value to lives and contribute to our nation’s advancement. My upbringing alongside my grandfather in the business provided invaluable lessons in leadership and management. I’m committed to upholding his legacy, driving MHD ACERE with innovation and integrity, and inspiring future generations toward lasting success.

Vision 2040: A roadmap for Al Amerat Club
As the newly elected Chairman of Al Amerat Club, I intend to bring Oman Vision 2040 to fruition.
In January this year His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, announced the approval of the Council of Ministers to establish sports and cultural clubs in various wilayat, including Al Amerat Club, in Muscat governorate. This decision not only reflects His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s dedication to promoting sports and culture, it also recognises the vital role played by clubs in nurturing youth talents and providing platforms for cultural and sports activities.

Al Amerat’s inclusion marked a historic milestone for the wilayat, one of the most populous in Muscat governorate, alongside Seeb, Bausher, Qurayyat, and Muttrah. With a focus on youth empowerment, aligned with Oman Vision 2040 under His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s leadership, the youth of Al Amerat can anticipate an enriching schedule of sporting activities in the years to come.
