Saudi Arabia’s entertainment events boasts over 8 million visitors in Q3

Saudi Arabia’s entertainment attracts a record 8.3 million visitors in the third quarter across various events and activities, according to the General Entertainment Authority (GEA).

A total of 536 entertainment events held throughout Saudi Arabia in Q3 have drawn millions, marking another milestone in the kingdom’s growing entertainment landscape. The GEA reported that applications for entertainment licenses surged to 8,000 during this period, a significant 20% jump from the previous quarter. Reflecting steady industry growth, 1,827 new entertainment licenses were issued in Q3, a 5.7% rise compared to the same period last year.

The industry expansion is backed by a robust network of over 5,225 companies operating in Saudi Arabia’s entertainment sector, with the number of licensed entertainment destinations now totaling 106. Last year alone, Saudi Arabia’s entertainment events amassed over 72 million visitors, showcasing the kingdom’s evolving appeal to domestic and international audiences.

Amid efforts to diversify its economy beyond oil, Saudi Arabia has ramped up initiatives to attract foreign tourists, introducing simplified visa processes for eligible nationalities and amplifying tourism infrastructure. Official figures show the kingdom welcomed more than 100 million tourists in the past year, underscoring the impact of its entertainment-driven approach.

Established in 2016, the GEA has played a pivotal role in this transformation, organizing concerts, theatrical performances, sports events, and major festivals like Riyadh Season. Launched in 2019, Riyadh Season has since become an annual highlight, positioning the capital as a global entertainment hub.
