The EIB confirmed on Wednesday that the funding will support a range of residential projects aimed at boosting energy efficiency and sustainability across Spain. The new loan portfolio is designed to mobilize €200 million for climate action and environmental sustainability efforts focused on individual households.
According to the EIB, the financing will back home renovations, the installation of high-performance boilers, insulating windows, and solar panels, as well as investments in energy-efficient housing equipment and small-scale renewable energy projects. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to cut carbon dioxide emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change at the grassroots level.
The bank emphasized that a significant number of these green projects will be rolled out in Spain’s cohesion regions—areas where income levels fall below the EU average—ensuring that the transition to a more sustainable future is both inclusive and widespread.
