Oman plans OMR 10 million initiative to empower economy through AI

The national initiative, launched with the support and supervision of the Ministry of Economy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, is aimed at enabling and encouraging investment and integration of artificial intelligence applications and technologies in development projects and programs in the economic diversification sectors specified in the Tenth Five-Year Development Plan (2021-2025).

It is structured to achieve economic development based on the technologies and uses of artificial intelligence; enhance the efficiency of development spending by increasing productivity, improving quality and reducing costs; enable and integrate AI applications and technologies into developmental projects; develop smart government services and ensure their quality; and enhance investment opportunities based on technology and innovation

As part of the application mechanism, government agencies and institutions will submit initiatives to the Ministry of Economy, which will be subject to evaluation by a specialized team in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
