Airtel partners with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to bring Starlink internet to India

Airtel has joined forces with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to introduce Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet services to India, marking a significant milestone in the country’s telecom sector.

Announced on Tuesday, the partnership aims to expand reliable broadband connectivity to rural and underserved regions, pending regulatory approvals for Starlink’s operations in India.

As part of the agreement, Airtel and SpaceX will explore:

Offering Starlink equipment in Airtel retail stores
Providing Starlink-powered internet to businesses, schools, and healthcare centers

Leveraging Airtel’s ground network infrastructure to enhance connectivity
Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal highlighted that Starlink will complement Airtel’s existing broadband portfolio, ensuring nationwide high-speed internet access. The partnership adds Starlink’s enterprise suite to Airtel’s offerings, further strengthening its nationwide satellite connectivity, alongside its existing alliance with Eutelsat OneWeb.

With low-latency, high-speed satellite internet, Starlink enables seamless video streaming, gaming, and business communications.
