Dubai’s hospitality sector is booming, with 12 new hotels and over 2,700 rooms added in the first half of 2024, bringing the total number of hotels to 716, according to a report by property consultancy Cavendish Maxwell. The city now boasts nearly 149,750 hotel rooms, with even more growth on the horizon.
An additional 40 hotels are expected to open by the end of 2024, with 4,748 more rooms slated for completion between 2026 and 2027. Much of this expansion is driven by demand for luxury and upscale accommodations, which accounted for 67 percent of the new supply in the first half of the year.
The report highlights substantial growth in the high-end sector, with 4-star rooms increasing by 216 per cent and 5-star rooms up by 111 per cent in H1 2024. Key luxury openings include The Lana Dubai Dorchester Collection, FIVE Lux JBR, and One & Only Za’abeel.
Dubai’s tourism is also on the rise, welcoming 9.31 million visitors and handling a record 44.9 million passengers at Dubai International Airport in the first half of 2024. The sector is on track to surpass 2023’s figures, which saw 17.15 million international overnight visitors.
As the city heads towards its D33 goal of becoming one of the top three global tourism destinations, Dubai’s hospitality sector positions itself for more success, with around 15,000 more rooms expected by the end of 2027.
