Dubai’s new AI assistant for health professionals tackles burnout

Dubai Health has unveiled plans for an innovative AI-powered tool to alleviate physician burnout by streamlining the documentation process.

Set to launch next year, the Ambient Voice Solution (AVS) aims to empower doctors to focus more on patient care rather than paperwork.

Introduced during the second day of this year’s Gitex conference, the AVS is designed to revolutionize patient interactions by capturing and documenting consultations seamlessly. Family medicine consultant Dr Nada Al Mulla explained that the technology records conversations, converts patient complaints into precise medical terminology, and generates comprehensive reports after each visit. This means doctors can dedicate their full attention to their patients rather than juggling administrative tasks.

The AVS addresses a pressing issue in the healthcare sector: burnout among physicians. A recent survey found that nearly 62% of doctors cite administrative responsibilities as a major source of exhaustion, with many often extending their work hours just to complete documentation. The introduction of AVS seeks to mitigate this issue by filtering out irrelevant conversations, ensuring that only pertinent medical information is recorded.

Moreover, the AI assistant enhances legal protection for healthcare providers by maintaining accurate and thorough documentation. Physicians will still review the information captured by the AI before submission, ensuring that the highest standards of care are upheld.
