More than 60% of professionals in the UAE prefer to be self-employed, according to a survey.
About 56% of professionals in the UAE are looking to start a business, while 24% have tried to start their own business in the past, while only 4% never thought of establishing a new company.
According to the survey conducted by career website Bayt.com and market research agency YouGov, showed 49% of professionals stating personal fulfillment as the primary reason for preferring to be self-employed, while 47% said freedom to choose work-life balance, 47% emerge as the top reasons for preferring to be self-employed. This is followed by the ability to give back to the community (43%) and being one’s own boss 41%.

The survey polled 1,800 respondents from countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Sudan among others.
