Truecaller and HDFC ERGO launch Fraud Insurance in India to combat digital scams

Truecaller has joined forces with HDFC ERGO to introduce Fraud Insurance to combat digital communication fraud in India.

In response to the alarming rise in digital fraud, Truecaller and HDFC ERGO have launched Fraud Insurance, offering comprehensive protection for users against SMS and call scams.

A recent report from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre revealed that digital financial frauds have cost India INR 1.25 lakh crore over the past three years, underscoring the urgent need for robust preventive measures.

Fraud Insurance provides coverage of up to INR 10,000 for both Android and iOS users across India who fall victim to SMS or call scams. This coverage is available at no extra cost to yearly premium subscribers of Truecaller, with existing users also benefiting under their current plans.

Activating Fraud Insurance is straightforward, requiring a one-tap registration through the Truecaller app’s Premium tab. If users lose money through a scam, they can easily raise a claim without additional paperwork and be redirected to HDFC ERGO to process their claim.

Truecaller’s new Fraud Insurance complements its suite of advanced app features, including AI spam blocking, AI Assistant, and call scanning, providing users complete protection throughout their digital communication journey.
